INFRASTRUCTURE TODAY will be coming out with its 16th Anniversary Edition with a theme of ‘Towards $5 trillion’, in the month of October 2019. The issue will broadly examine how India’s infrastructure spending will have to substantially accelerate in line with the Federal Government’s target to make the Country a $5 trillion economy by 2025 as well as improve service delivery to provide a strong foundation for rapid and inclusive economic growth.
According to an estimate, the world’s fastest-growing major economy requires investments worth Rs50 trillion ($777.73 billion) in infrastructure by 2022 for sustained growth. Despite tremendous interest being shown by investors like sovereign wealth funds (SWF)s, funding of projects remains problematic over concerns on return on investment while, on the other hand, some completed infrastructure projects struggle for survival. However, with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government returning with a stronger mandate in the general elections held earlier this year, more affirmative action is expected on the front going forward.
The magazine, therefore, will take a look at how the next chapter of India’s infrastructure growth story may unfold by analysing certain key constituents of the sector.
