NTPC registers 10percent growth in power generation in Q1FY17

India´s leading power generator, state-owned NTPC Limited, registered a 10 per cent growth in power generation in the first quarter of FY 2016-17.
´The cumulative generation of the company was 64.6 billion units (BUs) in Q1FY17 as compared to 58.70 BUs during the same period last year´ NTPC said in a media statement. NTPC group achieved generation increase of 11.65 per cent during the period.
The electricity tariff billed by NTPC to the beneficiaries has also been reduced significantly as compared to the same period last year despite increase in fuel prices, said the company. NTPC has a total installed capacity of 47,178 MW through its 18 coal-based, 7 gas-based, 9 solar PV, one hydro station and 8 JV power stations.
