Pointing out that there had been no progress in the work on NH 66 in Udupi district of Karnataka, K Raghupati Bhat, MLA, on January 26 accused Udupi-Chikmagalur MP K Jayaprakash Hegde of failing to expedite work on the widening of the National Highway 66. Bhat told the media in Mangalore that there had been no progress in the work on NH 66 ever since Hegde became an MP.

Karnataka now finds itself in the company of other states in the clamp down on mining and ore transport. This means India will soon drop down in its export rankings of ore, adding to the brewing export and currency troubles.
