Delay in Chennai, Kolkata airports modernisation

Transport Update  /  Jun 01, 2015

The government has extended for the second straight time the last date for submission of requests from private parties for operation, management and development of Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad airports. Private parties interested in participating in the modernisation of these airports can now put in their bids to be shortlisted for the process till July 1.

This means that there will be a delay in the modernising process of these airports. GMR Airports, the GVK Group, Tata Realty, Essel, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd, Siemens Postal Parcel and Airport Logistics Pvt Ltd, International Business Development Flughafen, Zurich, Flemingo Duty Free Shop Pvt Ltd and Cochin International Airport have shown an interest in taking part in the modernisation of four airports.

Developing a domestic transshipment port is a good idea if we talk about seaports, there are several countries and commercial centers around the world that don’t have a seaport and these countries have to use the seaports of other countries in order to import or export their cargo, which will give a competitive advantage.
