Even as the MoU has been signed between India and Japan on the bullet train project, state government officials have little clue about where the terminal for this high-speed rail will be located in Mumbai. During the pre-feasibility study, there had been talk of building a terminal at BKC.
However, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) raised the red flag on the issue as it did not want to part with the prime piece of land and lose potential revenue from sale of land and FSI. A senior MMRDA official said, ¨We are yet to see the feasibility report for the project. Initially, when BKC was proposed as the terminal, we had expressed apprehension as this was not financially feasible for us.¨
