Sanjiv Sahai is the MD and CEO of Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System Ltd (DIMTS), an urban transport and infrastructure development company since its inception seven years ago. Promoted by IDFC Foundation and the Delhi Government, the company has become an important partner of Delhi Government in the transportation domain wherein it provides advisory services including Transportation Modeling, Traffic Engineering, Project Management Consultancy, Intelligent Transport Systems Technologies and Services, and Operations and Management of assets. The company also provides these services to other major cities of India as well as abroad.

Sahai started his career with Tata Administrative Service. He joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), whose members serve the top echelons of government, in 1986. He was conferred the Governor's Gold Medal for outstanding service in Arunachal Pradesh and has also been a Robert McNamara fellow at the Princeton University, USA and a recipient of Joint Japan World Bank Fellowship.

As a senior IAS official with more than 28 years of experience, he has served on a number of positions, including five years in the Indian Prime Minister's Office where he was closely associated, among others, with development of road and transport infrastructure. In 2004 he was the Chairman and Managing Director of Delhi Transport Corporation, while also serving as the Secretary and Commissioner Transport for Delhi Government.

Sahai has been closely associated with cause of promoting public transport in the city and has undertaken several initiatives in this regard. He has published several papers on the subject of public transport and sustainable development of cities and is also a frequent speaker at both national and international seminars.

Developing a domestic transshipment port is a good idea if we talk about seaports, there are several countries and commercial centers around the world that don’t have a seaport and these countries have to use the seaports of other countries in order to import or export their cargo, which will give a competitive advantage.
