City infrastructure to be restructured

Urban Infra Update  /  Feb 01, 2016

The Meerut Development Authority (MDA) has plans to restructure the city´s infrastructure to make way for the Meerut Metro, which officials say will be operational by 2022.
The nodal officer for Meerut Metro Vivek Bhaskar said that two bus depots at Sohrab Gate and Bhainsali and a truck depot at Transport Nagar will be shifted to the outskirts of the city to make way for new metro stations. Metro stations will be built close to the new site of these depots so that travellers can commute easily.

RITES has submitted the detailed project report (DPR) to the MDA. The report gives details of the metro stations in the first phase and the proposed price chart. A meeting under divisional commissioner Alok Sinha, which will also have representatives from the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation, will be held to discuss the DPR. A report will be sent to the state government for approval, after which the land acquisition process will begin.

Agree. Developing a domestic transshipment port is a good idea if we talk about seaports, there are several countries and commercial centers around the world that don’t have a seaport and these countries have to use the seaports of other countries in order to import or export their cargo, which will give a competitive advantage.
