Infrastructure Today Magazine | BLR Airport Gets Tech-Enabled Passenger Flow Management System

BLR Airport Gets Tech-Enabled Passenger Flow Management System

Web Exclusive  /  Sep 04, 2020

Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), with Xovis as its implementing partner, rolled out the tech-enabled queue management System at the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (KIAB/BLR Airport) to reduce waiting times, enhance operational efficiency and better manage passenger flow during peak hours.

Besides, the Xovis PTS, a state-of-the-art passenger flow management system, will display live waiting times on the screens at processing points, leading to lowered levels of stress for passengers. This system empowers internal teams to plan resources well in advance with historical data available from the solution.

The Xovis 3D sensors will capture passenger flow coordinates at departure gates, check-in, immigration, security hold areas of both domestic and international flights as well as visa sections.

“At BIAL, we aim to make BLR Airport the most digitally advanced and efficient airport in the world. This system is part of BIAL’s vision to enable journeys, create experiences and touch lives as part of the gateway to a new India,” said Jayaraj Shanmugam, Chief Operating Officer, BIAL.

“We hope this is the first of many happy collaborations between BIAL, our team and IDDS, our partner in India. The ribbon-cutting ceremony last Friday was a significant moment, it reflected the collaboration and camaraderie we have experienced throughout this exciting project,” said Xovis CEO, Andreas Fähndrich.

Xovis is a Swiss high-tech company that develops, manufactures and distributes 3D sensors and software solutions for people flow measurement. The company was founded in 2008 and now employs around 100 people located in Switzerland, the US and China.

Xovis traces its origins to the airport industry and the company’s experience comes from many successful projects and close collaboration with airport operators. The company’s ceiling-mounted 3D sensors capture coordinates and compute passenger flow information and the accompanying software visualises the data on a real-time dashboard.

Moreover, professional implementation, on-site planning, initial operation, reliable support and maintenance are part of Xovis’ full-service approach that puts customer success first.

Agree. Developing a domestic transshipment port is a good idea if we talk about seaports, there are several countries and commercial centers around the world that don’t have a seaport and these countries have to use the seaports of other countries in order to import or export their cargo, which will give a competitive advantage.
