To benefit rural poor, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has unveiled various programmes implemented by the rural development department costing 1,214 crore, including 56,830 solar-powered greenhouses built in different parts of the state.
She launched the programme through video conferencing from the Secretariat, an official release said. Each housing unit measuring 300 square feet cost Rs 1.8 lakh and the project was entirely funded by the state government. Jayalalithaa also opened ten bridges, four bus terminuses, village panchayat service centres, panchayat union school buildings and community halls, the release said.
