Reliance Industries will regain its 60 million standard cu m per day of natural gas output level from its KG-D6 fields on the eastern offshore by April. The output has fallen to 50-52 mmscmd in recent times from over 60 mmscmd achieved in mid-2010 due to reservoir complexities.
Currently, natural gas is produced from 18 wells and two more wells have been drilled (but they have been put on production) and another two are expected to be ready by March. Once all the 22 wells come onstream—expected sometime in April 2011—the gas output will again touch 60 mmsmcd.
The reservoir has some complexity and this seems to have restricted production from the MA field to 18,200 barrels per day. The reasons cited were high water and the gas output.
