Tuticorin port has plans to triple its cargo handling capacity from 23.18 mt to 71 mt by 2020. This will be done in two stages. First by doubling capacity which will be achieved within approximately two years as the work on three major projects—capital dredging and construction of North Cargo Berths 1 and 2—will be complete. The second will be through through capacity addition.
