The Delhi Petrol Dealers Association (DPDA) has requested the state to reduce Value Added Tax (VAT) on diesel to nine per cent from 12.5 per cent, in line with the neighbouring state of Haryana, in order to prevent smuggling of diesel. Owing to the Rs 1.25 differential, transporters prefer to buy the polluting Euro 3 Diesel from Haryana rather than Delhi’s eco-friendly Euro 4 diesel.
