The civic administration of Kochi district is taking steps to acquire land for the Kochi metro rail project, which reqÂuires approximately 40 heÂctare. It is learnt that addi-tional land would be acquired for conÂstructing a metro vill-age adjacent to the proposed coach-maintenance yard in near Aluva.
In order to fast-track land acquisition, the Revenue DepÂaÂrÂtment has constituted three teams of surveyors. DistÂrict Collector PI Sheikh ParÂeeth, a member of the Kochi Metro Director Board, has asked them to hasten the proÂcess. February has been fixed as the revised deadline to take possession of the requisite land .
