Vadodara Congress leaders have complanied that the contractors hired by Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) have been using substandard material for constructing roads in the city. They also leveled charges against VMC for alleged irregularities in road construction in Sama area.
The Congress leaders said that instead of penalising the contractor, the civic officials are trying to protect him. Congress spokesperson Pragnesh Tewar said that they had complained about the inferior quality metal being used in road construction in April. The civic officials promised that they would collect the material and send it for tests to ascertain its quality.
Tewar said that the contractor, however, replaced the inferior material kept in the area with good quality material. A senior VMC official even claimed that samples of the material have been sent for tests to GERI. “But when we visited GERI we learnt that no material has been sent for testing there,” Tewar complained.
