According to a study by the industry body Assocham, Gujarat, Odisha and Maharashtra account for 84 per cent of the total port projects completed during the 11th Plan Period (2007-12).

The study on Ports Development in India shows that Gujarat itself accounts for over 50 per cent of the port projects completed during the above period. The state completed 12 projects valued at Rs 12,453 crore, consolidating its presence in the Indian maritime map.

Odisha and Maharashtra account for a share of 16.9 per cent and 15.3 per cent respectively in the completed projects, the study finds.

While two projects worth Rs 4,169 crore were completed in Odisha, the corresponding figure for Maharashtra is five projects worth Rs 3,772 crore during the period.

Three projects worth Rs 1,425 crore were completed in Andhra Pradesh, which accounts for 5.8 per cent of the completed port projects in the country during the period.
