Airports Authority of India (AAI) bagged the ‘3rd Asia’s Best CSR Practice Award’ under the category Developing Sustainable Strategies for the year 2013. The award was received by Manoj Kumar, AGM (HR), AAI, in an inspiring event held in Singapore. AAI was recognised for the innovative initiative of integrating use of eco-friendly handcrafted recycled paper and paper products within the entire organisation through this award. The handcrafted recycled paper and paper products are produced in the paper recycling unit of AAI.
AAI was recognised for the award as a result of its innovative and successful work in the area of environment management.
The use of recycled papers has brought in a change in the corporate culture within the organisation, inculcating and promoting resource minimisation, recycling and reuse of waste paper and contributing to environment conservation in a meaningful way. Driven by the concept of promoting better practices for environment conservation, AAI started this unique initiative in 2009. Archna Agrawal, President, Kalyanmayee, pioneered the incep¡tion of the project and significantly contributed in establish¡ment of the paper recycling unit in New Delhi.
AAI became the first PSU in India to establish this paper recycling unit to support the cause Government Recycled Office Waste (G.R.O.W.). The paper recycling unit converts paper waste from AAI offices across the country, into useful paper stationery products like file covers, file folders, visiting cards, envelopes, letter heads, corporate gifts, calendars and several other paper products.
