In Maharashtra, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is to build an underpass at the busy Y-junction where Wakad Road meets Aundh-Ravet Road, which would make the junction free of traffic signals. The civic body is to spend Rs 14.27 crore on the construction of the underpass.
The civic body is developing the 14-km stretch of Aundh-Ravet Road, from Rajiv Gandhi bridge in Sangvi to Ravet, as a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor. It is widening this road to 45 m.
The civic body said that the underpass will be constructed for vehicles coming from Wakad to travel safely to Aundh. This underpass will be 467 m in length and 7.5 m wide. It will have two lanes and vehicles with a height of up to 4.5 m will be able to go through the underpass safely.
