Petroleum Oil and Lubricant (POL) berth no. 13 was recently commissioned at New Mangalore Port to cater to the additional demand of the potential users. This berth has the cargo handling capacity to the tune of 7.8 MTPA. The construction of this berth had cost Rs 79.17 crore. In addition to this, the foundation stone for berth no. 18 was recently laid at the New Mangalore Port. The berth length will be 325m and 25m width and would handle bulk cargo and containers. The berth is designed for 1.25 lakh DWT vessels with a maximum LOA of 280m, beam 42m and depth of 15.1m. Rotterdam Maritime Group and Tata Consultancy Services had conducted traffic study for this project.
