The UDAAN Art Festival got off to a rollicking start on 21 March 2014 at the Airports Authority of India Officers Institute (AAIOI) near Safdarjung Airport. The art festival was inaugurated by Alok Sinha, Chairman, AAI in the gracious presence of renowned artist Renuka Sondhi Gulati, senior photographer RK Paul, Director, PSA Membership: Indian Sub-Continent (Bangladesh/India/Sri Lanka), and Ananstasia Khokhlova, Head of Cultural Department (Russian Center of Science & Culture).
K Jha, Member HR (AAI), Sudhir Raheja Member Planning (AAI) GK Choukial Member Operations, AAI, M Kannan, Economic Adviser, MCA, TR Meena, Joint Secretary and other AAI and Civil Aviation senior officers, artists, photographers, dignitaries, and members of the media also graced the fun filled occasion.
The festival included different art forms. There was a three-day Art Camp that involved 21 artists, a group photography exhibition and a 2-day photography seminar on ‘Digital Photography û Boon or Bane’.
In the evenings, there was gala extravaganza that included in-house talent performances, Russian flautist Mikhail, Bhajans by visually impaired performers and a special Sufi and Ghazal night.
The group art exhibition that is also a part of the festival was widely appreciated by all the visitors. The exhibition is on display till 5 April. The success of the UDAAN Art Festival has prompted the organisers Forum of Indian Photographers and Artists (FIPA), Airports Authority of India Artists Forum (AAIAF) and Airports Authority Of India Officers Institute (AAIOI) to continue the formation of such art festivals for providing for a platform of artists of all art forms – visual and performing included to imbibe FIPA’s motto of ‘Learning by sharing’.
The next edition of the UDAAN Art Festival will be planned sometime in September-October this year.
