With the lifting of the mining ban in Goa and the increase in general cargo volume, the Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) hopes to boost its throughput in the current fiscal. The volume of general cargo grew by 23 per cent in the first two months of the current fiscal, said P Mara Pandiyan, Chairman, MPT. This trend is expected to continue throughout the year. The traffic last year was over 11 million tonne.
