Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) has concluded an MoU with RITES for extending rail infrastructure facilities at the mining areas of the company in Telangana. SCCL supplies coal to customers through railways on priority and this mode amounts to 66 per cent of its total dispatches. Last year, 32 million tonne of coal was transported through railways to various customers – this year it is likely to be 35 million tonne. Coal transportation from the mines to its power project is proposed through a dedicated railway system with RITES, which also can be used for supply of fuel oil and reverse transport of fly ash. Other projects include construction of a railway line from Koyagudem mine to Bethampudi station and development of a railway siding near Rebbana for Golet mines. The MoU will mutually benefit and immensely contribute to the infrastructure growth in Telangana in general and the coal belt area in particular.
