The agreement paves the way for joint research in logistics, chip design, and advanced encryption to strengthen indigenous defence systems.
Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), India’s first university in the transportation and logistics sector under the Ministry of Railways, and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the country’s premier defence research agency under the Ministry of Defence, have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop smart technological solutions for national security.
The agreement was inked on Monday in New Delhi in the presence of Dr Samir V Kamat, Chairman, DRDO, and Secretary of Defence Research & Development (R&D). GSV and DRDO have joined hands to strengthen collaboration in defence-related logistics and technology.
Kamat noted, “The collaboration is expected to facilitate the development of technological solutions for deployment aspects of indigenous defence systems.”
The MoU will serve as a platform for collaborative studies and R&D in logistics management, operational logistics at tactical, operational and strategic levels, analysis of concepts and validation of operational logistics plans, chip design and hardware security, as well as homomorphic and blockchain-based encryption. It will focus on building the capacities of researchers and scientists in operational and military science, logistics management, and technical research.
Both organisations will conduct joint research, hold seminars and conferences, build capacity, and organise roundtable workshops. Prof. Manoj Choudhary, Vice Chancellor, GSV, and Dr Lal Chand Mangal, Director General (Technology Management) [DS & DG(TM)], signed the agreement on behalf of their organisations.
GSV already has strong collaboration with all three defence forces—the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force, and the Indian Navy—for logistics and supply chain research and education. The MoU with DRDO enhances its value proposition for the sector through cutting-edge research and innovation.
