In Manipur, the State government plans to develop an alternative route to National Highway No 2 in Mahai lambi (ML). In this regard, the State Works Minister Kh Ratankumar inspected ML on August 11. The NH No 2 passes through Mayang Imphal, Wabagai and Kakching Lamkhai. The matter of developing an alternative route to NH was also raised during a meeting of Chief Ministers and Works Ministers of North Eastern states held in Guwahati recently.
The Minister said that the proposal for development of Mayai Lambi as an alternative route of NH-2 has been sent to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Mayai Lambi is currently the State Highway No.1 For development as a National Highway, the road has to be expanded for 30 metre at places where there are houses and 45 metre where there are no houses.
