Andhra Pradesh government is taking efforts to give right of way for the elevated Hyderabad Metro Rail project being executed by Larsen and Toubro.

The state government is taking steps to shift utilities such as water lines, sewer lines, electrical overhead lines and underground cables, electrical poles, street lights, advertisement boards etc.

The state government may ask the Secunderabad Cantonment Board to allow road cutting in about 2 km on the backside of Parade Grounds to divert the water pipeline.

The State Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew is learnt to have held a meeting with the Special Task Force (STF) and directed early clearance of shifting of utilities.

During the meeting, she also emphasised the restoring of the roads in a well-coordinated manner to avoid inconvenience to general public.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that L&T completed foundations in 17.5 km (665 foundations); pillars (piers) in 14 km (550 pillars); cast viaduct segments sufficient for covering 8 km (2700 segments) and completed viaduct formation in 3 km (100 spans) in the last one year.

The state government has reportedly given new work fronts to L&T and the firm has completed barricading in several new locations.
