The Andhra Pradesh government has geared up to acquire land for the proposed sea port in Machilipatnam. The government has already authorised the Machilipatnam Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to seek bank loans to compensate the land owners under the Land Acquisition Act 2013 and the subsequent amendments made to the Act in 2018. The government had authorised the MUDA to get the loan facility from the banks to pay for the rehabilitation and resettlement. Now, the officials are set to start the land acquisition and complete it in the next 45 days.
