Bandhan Financial Services plans to begin its banking journey next year with around 600 branches. Bandhan will operate in the rural belt and in the unbanked areas of the country. Reserve Bank of India has given in-principal approval to Bandhan and IDFC Ltd for setting up banks and offered an 18-month preparation time till October 2015. As a microfinance company, Bandhan has 55 lakh borrowers.
