Indian Railways (IR) has always imported its crankshaft, but recently for the first time has placed an order with Bharat Forge. According to the company, Bharat Forge is the only crankshaft manufacturer in India which caters to the industrial sector. Bharat Forge has been already supplying a range of equipment to major rail network in the US and Europe. One of the world´s largest buyers of equipment, IR is expected to make investment close to $20 billion over the next seven years and Bharat Forge is looking forward to bag many more such orders. Bharat Forge aims at becoming one of the top three railway component suppliers globally. The company is also executing, for the first time in India, a technology-intensive project involving mechanised laying of tracks within India´s upcoming heavy axle load freight corridor.
