The building construction department (BCD) of the Bihar government, which has a plan size of over Rs 78 crore for 2013-14, is set to execute key construction works including Bihar Museum, International Convention Centre and MLA or MLC flats etc.
The department will also implement the expansion of secretariat, police headquarters building and employment exchange among others.
However, BCD Principal Secretary Chanchal Kumar clarified, in a press meet, that the department will take construction work of other departments, only if the land allotment is clear.
He also said that the department started the process of landscaping, a feature absent in many of its earlier constructions. Landscaping is an integral part of our new designs and we are also planning to add it to the old buildings, said Kumar.
During the press meet, Kumar highlighted upcoming projects of the department as well as the work completed last year was highlighted by the officials.
He claimed that despite shortage of engineers, the department could do more work than earlier and nearly 93 percent of the annual plan size was spent last year.
