For non-payment of dues by Kingfisher Airlines (KFA) Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) has decided to take legal action against the KFA. The debt-ridden airline owes BIA about Rs 60 crore as of October towards landing and parking charges, aerobridge, facility management, passenger service fee (PSF) and user development fee (UDF).
Sources said that the board of Bangalore International Airport, the promoter and operator of BIA, which met some three weeks ago, gave the go-ahead for initiation of legal action.
The management has to take action as the airline has been given a long rope, sources in the Karnataka government who have been briefed on the matter said. The Central government and the Karnataka government have a 13 per cent stake each in BIAL.
