Officials meet stakeholders
The senior officials of the Union Civil Aviation Ministry met key stakeholders of the industry to discuss issues and also to evolve consensus on the new Civil Aviation Policy. At the meeting, it was decided that all stakeholders shoÂuld provide their opinion on the proposed policy by mid-February.
Panel clears Master List
The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure approved the framework for using the harmonised Master List of infrastructure sub-sectors.Harmonisation of the existing definitions of infrastructure sectors will facilitate a coordinated approach, among agencies providing support to infrastructure, and thus spur infrastructure development.
AP plans policy on regional airports
The Andhra Pradesh government plans to unveil a policy for development of regional green field airports in the state by June, according to the Minister for Infrastructure, Ganta Srinivasa Rao.The policy would deal with single-window clearance, connectivity both rail and road, incentives for development and issues relating to land allocation for the new projects.
Minor airports in Karnataka
Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj informed that minor airports at Shimoga, Gulbarga, Bijapur and Hassan were being developed on public-private-partnership basis.The airports at Gulbarga and Shimoga would be operational by July.
Kannur airport project gets land
Kerala government hopes to complete the Kannur airport project on schedule as it has secured land for the project from Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (KINFRA).The first phase of the project would be completed by 2014 and the first flight is expected to land at Kannur airport in 2015.
ILS for Gannavaram airport
Officials of Gannavaram airport are awaiting clearance from Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for the commissioning of the Instrument landing system (ILS).A calibration aircraft landed at Gannavaram airport to calibrate the functioning of ILS and the officials will submit a report to DGCA.
India Aviation 2012 to highÂ-light investment opportunities
In view of the significance of the aviation sector and need for highlighting the investment opportunities, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Ministry of Civil Aviation are jointly organising the 3rd edition of India Aviation Conference.
AAI to install advanced surveillance system
In a move that would improve air surveillance system, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) plans to commission a new Automatic Dependent SurÂveiÂllance-Broadcast (ADS-B) system at 14 airports in a year.Of the 14, six to seven airports will get the system by the middle of this year and the remaining airports would receive it by this year-end.
Ennore LPG terminal by March
Indian Oil Petronas’ (IPPL) LPG terminal project in Ennore, about 30 km from Chennai, will be completed in all respects by the first week of March and ready, mechanically, to receive the first consignment.Apart from bridging the imbalance in LPG demand-supply in Tamil Nadu.
