Committee on greenfield airports clears four projects
The Steering Committee on Greenfield airports headed by Secretary, Civil Aviation has considered four new airport projects. The Committee recommended ‘in-principle’ approval to three projects in Andhra Pradesh, viz., Bhogapuram, Dagadarthi (Nellore) and Orvakallu (Kurnool).
22 airports to get connected under regional connectivity scheme
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) Chairman G P Mohapatra has told media persons that 22 airports will get connected under the regional connectivity scheme, under the first phase.
PwC consortium will be transaction advisors for Dholera airport
PricewaterhouseCoopers Pvt Ltd, in consortium with Airport Planners and Design Consulting Pvt Ltd, and SPA Legal, has been roped in by the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC) as transaction advisors for the greenfield Dholera airport in Gujarat, according to a report in the Business Standard.
50 more operational airports by 2019

The Navi Mumbai international airport project may miss the earlier December 2019 target for completion of its first phase, with an extension in the period allowed for bids and delays in various clearances.
Aviation market clocks 25% growth in passenger traffic
India´s aviation sector is soaring high, with the month-on-month passenger growth for the month of July hitting a record 25 per cent. The total number of passengers carried by domestic airlines during the January to July 2016 period was 560.87 lakh versus 455.95 lakh during the corresponding period of previous year, thereby registering a growth of 23.01 per cent, says the latest data released by DGCA.
Pasighat Advanced Landing Ground gets operational
The upgraded Advanced Landing Ground (ALG) at Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh has been inaugurated by Kiren Rijiju, MoS for Home Affairs. A flypast by a formation of three Sukhoi-30 MKI Air Dominance Fighter aircraft, that took off from one of the forward EAC airbases was a highlight of the event.
Chennai airport installs solar panels
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has installed solar panels on the cargo complex of Chennai airport, as part of its green initiative. The panels will take care of 80 per cent of the power requirement of the cargo section. The plant can generate approximately 5 MW.
Russia to help India in four key areas
Russia has agreed to help India in four key areas of civil aviation, fertilisers, mining and metallurgy, said an official statement after the fifth meeting of the India-Russia working group on modernisation and industrial cooperation.
