The Coimbatore International Airport is all set to get infrastructure and passenger amenities worth more than Rs 14.5 crore this year. This includes two new aerobridges, two more aprons for parking aircrafts and a lift at the departure area.

All permissions in place for Navi Mumbai airport
All Central Government permissions for the Navi Mumbai International Airport have been granted, Chief Secretary Swadhin Kshatriya said. Seven permissions, from the environment and civil aviation ministries were received last month, a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi´s countrywide video-conference with chief secretaries.
Private players to spend Rs.1,839 cr on four airports
Successful bidders for developing Chennai, Kolkata and two other domestic airports, through public private partnerships, should spend at least Rs 1,839 crore towards mandatory capital works at these locations
Delay in airports´ modernization
The modernization of Chennai, Kolkata and two other airports is set to get delayed with the last date for private parties interested in participating in the bidding process being extended by more than two months.
Durgapur airport to be operational by next month
Country´s first private greenfield airport at Durgapur, promoted by Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Ltd (BAPL), is likely to be operational by April 14. ´
Gannavaram Airport to get new terminal
The much-awaited expansion of Gannavaram airport, which is proposed to be developed with international standards, will become a reality soon with Civil Aviation Minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju directing the officials to complete works pertaining to development of a new terminal and lounges by April 30.
GMR Infra to raise Rs.4,000 cr
GMR Infrastructure plans to raise Rs 4,000 crore by FY16 through divestment of assets and share sale to reduce debt and ease cash flow. The loss-making infrastructure company plans to divest projects, monetise land assets and sell stake at holding company level to raise funds.
Panel for Air India´s performance
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government plans to set up an expert panel to find ways to improve Air India´s performance but presently no proposal is being considered for its privatisation, said Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati.
PPP model of airport development lauded
Public-private partnership (PPP) in the development of airports has been flagged as ´one of the significant achievements´ in the civil aviation sector, in the Economic Survey 2014-15. The Survey points out that the PPP model has led to a significant improvement in infrastructure and in collection of revenue.
GVK, GMR keen on airport projects
Eight companies, including GMR Airports, GVK Group and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), have evinced interest in the government project to modernize the airports in Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Jaipur.
