Aranmula airport project gets nod from Centre
In Kerala, the private sector KGS Aranmula International Airport has received the crucial ‘in-principle approval’ of the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation. The approval is effective from September 4, 2012. PT Nandakumar, Executive Director of the airport company, said that this is the final clearance granted by the steering committee of the Ministry chaired by Secretary, Civil Aviation.
Govt to hold meet over GMR exiting Rs 7,500 cr project
To study the reasons for the exit of GMR from a National Highways project, a meeting of senior officials, including secretaries and joint secretaries will be convened, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Sarve Sathyanarayana said in Coimbatore on January 9 . GMR has exited from the Rs 7,500 crore project alleging delay in statutory approvals.
Cabinet to decide on proposed bank holding company

Air India concerned over FDI in aviation
Indian State-owned Air India has warned the Union government that allowing investments by foreign airlines will hurt the interests of domestic airlines and prevent Indian airports from developing into international hubs. The government should study the potential impact of such investment on the domestic aviation sector as a whole, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Rohit Nandan wrote in a letter to Aviation Secretary KN Srivastava in December, sources said.
