Airlines operating out of Kolkata's Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) airport are opposing the new charges that have been imposed on them. High charges of software and data system in the new terminal building of the Kolkata airport have deterred airlines from operating. The charges have not been implemented till date but would be implemented once the airlines shift to the new terminal building and start operating flights from there.

Airport Authority of India (AAI) has said that the Government could give the entire air cargo operation to a private company in the proposed second phase of the Chennai airport modernisation plan. GK Chaukiyal, Member (Operations), Airport Authority of India said that AAI is open to the idea of outsourcing the entire air cargo operations in the second phase when a new cargo facility is to be built in the old terminal.

Mangalore airport to get a cargo complex
Now, Mangalore airport is all set to get an air cargo complex. In a notification dated January 31, the Department of Customs has notified the air cargo complex at Mangalore airport. Mohammed Ameen, president of the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said KCCI has been demanding this facility at Mangalore airport for a long time.
