Essar Shipping has announced a net loss of Rs.11.20 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2013 against (Rs.35.99) crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2012. The company announced the the financial results for the period ended September 30, 2013.
Tenders invited for cargo handling at Kolkata port
Tenders have been invited by the Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) for mechanised handling of containerised cargo at three out of the 12 berths in the Netaji Subhas Dock (NSD) of the Kolkata port. The port authorities have called for a pre-bid techno-commercial conference on November 15. The last date for submission of the bids is December 3.
Chennai Port trustees oppose austerity steps
For the management's move to introduce austerity measures in Chennai Port to curtail the huge loss, likely to be reported this year, the port trustees have said a big 'no.' The trustees, at a special board meeting on October 28, felt the measures were mainly targeted at workers at the ‘lower level.’
Pipavav Port gets Rs 38 mn dividend from PPP project
Gujarat Pipavav Port (APM Terminals Pipavav), has got an interim dividend of Rs 38 million (5 per cent) from Pipavav Railway Corporation (PRCL) on October 23 at Mumbai. The dividend is a historic first for Indian Railway's flagship infrastructure company under Public Private Partnership (PPP).

For improving container movement at Chennai Port Trust (CPT), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has offered its assistance to the CPT. The move would help the export-import trade plan better and save on time and cost.

No need of origin certificate to value added goods
The Union Commerce Ministry has decided that exporters who import goods and ship them to Iran after value-addition will not be required to produce 'goods of Indian origin' certificate for making rupee payments. The government has directed UCO Bank, entrusted with handling rupee payment to Indian exporters to Iran, not to insist on the 'Goods of Indian Origin' certificate.
GAIL to set up Rs 3,108 cr LNG terminal at Paradip port
For setting up an offshore LNG (liquefied natural gas) terminal at Paradip Port in Odisha coast, India's largest State-owned natural gas distributor GAIL (India) has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Paradip Port Trust (PPT) at a cost of Rs 3,108 crore.
Ennore Port to build one more coal berth at Rs 270 cr
By deciding to construct an additional coal berth at a cost of Rs 270 crore, the Ennore Port (EPL) has decided to take on the competition from the Krishnapatnam and Karaikal ports on the eastern coast of India. To handle about 12 million tonne per annum (mtpa) EPL has two coal berths.
