Govt fixes Solar Mission Phase II tariff at Rs 5.45 a unit

According to the ‘Draft Guidelines,’ released by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, it proposes to fix a tariff of Rs 5.45 per kwhr for solar power projects that would be awarded under the Phase II of the National Solar Mission. The Draft Guidelines released on April 22. Those who want to put up solar power projects will now be asked for bid for ‘viability gap funding’ that would be given by the government.

Govt allocates Rs 1,521 cr for renewable energy in 2013-14

The Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah has said that a gross budgetary support (GBS) of Rs 1,521 crore has been provided to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) during 2013-14, in comparison to GBS of Rs 1,385 crore and Revised Estimates of Rs 1,150 crore during 2012-13, for development and promotion of renewable energy activities.
