Reliance Power said its 3,960 MW Tilaiya ultra mega power project in Jharkhand has got approval for carbon credits from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).Reliance Power's Tilaiya UMPP would earn Rs 2,000 crore by trading carbon credits during the first 10 years of its operations, the company said.

$750-mn ADB loan for Powergrid project
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will extend a loan of $750 million for the national power transmission improvement project of Power Grid Corporation of India. The loan will finance the project for bulk transmission of 3,000 MW of electricity from independent power producers in Chhattisgarh to areas in the north, including Delhi.
NHPC to raise Rs 2,000-cr debt
NHPC will raise Rs 2,000 crore debt in the next five months by issuing bonds and term loans in the domestic market. The debt was required to fund the company's plans to add 678 MW in the current financial year.
GE's low cost, clean energy solutions
General Electric (GE) is keen on offering low cost and clean energy solutions in the country. The company would be focusing on higher efficiency products such as FlexEfficiency 50 gas turbine and super-critical steam turbines for thermal power generation.
Power Minister invites US cos to invest in India
Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde invited the US companies to invest in India's power sector. Addressing the US-India Economic Opportunities and Synergies Summit in Chicago organised by FICCI in association with The Executive Club of Chicago, Shinde said India offered lucrative investment opportunities in power sector and the US investors should come forward to benefit from that opportunity
Tata Power to run Mundra UMPP at low capacity
Tata Power Company is preparing contingency plans to minimise loss from running the plant as the cost of imported coal from Indonesia has risen sharply. The company plans to run the 4,000-MW Mundra unit at low capacity, at around 72-78 percent, and is considering blending the fuel with cheÂaper coal of low calorific value to reduce cost of generation.
NTPC to raise capacity
NTPC plans to increase its generation capacity to 36,000 MW by March next year.The company also plans to invest about Rs 3,300 crore to expand the capacity of its existing coal based plant at Sipat. The first super critical unit for the company, with a capacity of 660 MW, has been commissioned at the plant.
ReNew Wind Power secures Goldman investment
ReNew Wind Power, a reneÂwable energy independent poÂwer producer (IPP), announced it has secured an equity investment of up to Rs 1,000 crore from Goldman Sachs, a leading global investment bank and active investor in alternative energy/clean technology.
Sterlite bags BSNL order
Sterlite Technologies, a provider of transmission solutions for the power and telecom industries, said it has received Rs 114 crore contract from BSNL for establishÂment of a broadband network in the state run company's telecom circles.
