Maharashtra to award110 MW of grid-connected solar projects
The Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO) has tendered 110 MW of solar in two separate tenders.
GST launch takes its toll on the June IIP numbers
The IIP number for the month of June 2017 came in sharply lower at -0.1% compared to 1.7% in the previous month of May 2017. A correction in the IIP was expected in the month of June due to the impact of the GST launch, although it was not expected to dip into negative territory.
Schneider Electric India commissions 720 kWp solar plant
Schneider Electric has commissioned a 720 kWp capacity solar power project at its manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat. The solar project, built on a rooftop area of 6,000 square meters, covers almost 45 per cent of the total factory load and will produce over 1.05 million units of electricity per year.
Merchant Power Market to Burgeon Over FY18-FY20
The short-term power market is up for an eventful journey in FY18-FY20, says India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra). However, the market is inhibited by impediments such as transmission constraints, opaque processes on open access within most states and steep cross-subsidy charges. A power supply-demand mismatch and a hiatus in long-term power purchase by states provide immense opportunities to the merchant market.

Suzlon has secured a 50.40 MW maiden order from Saudi Arabia's Alfanar Energy. Suzlon will install around 24 units of 2.1 MW, S111-90m wind turbine generator(WTG) and the project is scheduled for completion by March 2018.

New power plant at West Bengal’s Haldia
