In Lucknow, the first phase of Metro rail project would commence in December. The registrar of companies on October 8 approved the name of Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC). The first phase would include work on Amausi-Alambagh, Alambagh-Mahanagar and Mahanagar to Munshipulia.

Hyderabd Metro rail Stage 1 to be ready by 2015
Hyderabad is likely to ride on its first Metro rail on Ugadi day in 2015, the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMR) has stated recently. HMR Managing Director NVS Reddy said that stage I of the Rs 14,132-crore Metro Rail comprising a stretch of 8 kilometre, is most likely to be opened for public on Ugadi, the Telugu new year day, in 2015.
Rail freight earnings up 7.75 Percentage
Indian Railways posted 7.75 per cent rise in freight revenue in the first five months of 2013-14 compared to last year. The Railways generated Rs 36,465.59 crore in freight revenue between 1 April and 31 August compared with Rs 33,841.63 crore in the same period last year

Railways to develop fuel saving system for its locomotives
A highly fuel efficient, Common Rail Electronic Direct Fuel Injection (CReDI) system is to be developed by Indian Railways for its fleet of diesel locomotives. It is to alleviate the effect of rising fuel prices and increasing pollution from transport sector. The system is expected to save about Rs 500-600 crore annually on the railways fuel bill and reduce emissions by 30 per cent.
