Rs 297.75 crore has been sanctioned for Kochi Metro by the Kerala government on March 28. Out of this, Rs 88.50 crore is State Government's equity share and Rs 209.25 crore is for land acquisition. The State government had sanctioned Rs 19 crore for preparatory works as equity share.

Railways slashes charges for moving containers

The Indian Railways has decided to charge less for moving some categories of containers. After deciding, in November 2012, to raise haulage rates by up to 31 per cent in two installments — in December 1, 2012, and February 1, 2013, the Railway Ministry has now decided to lower the rates by five per cent in two segments — 10-20 tonne cargo in twenty feet equivalent unit (TEU) containers, and 20-40 tonne cargo in forty feet equivalent (FEU) containers.

Rajasthan has claimed that its capital Jaipur will see the Metro running this June itself. It claimed that the Metro had been constructed in a record time of less than two and half years thanks to the support from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
