In Gujarat, the Jetpur-Somnath Section of National Highway (NH)- 8D is being converted into four lane under NHDP Phase-III by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Four laning of Bhavnagar-Veraval Section and two lane paved shoulder/four laning of Gadu Dwarka section of NH-8E is scheduled to be completed in September, 2015.

Govt nod to Kollegal-Kerala border highway expansion
The Union government has given its consent to the expansion work on the Kerala Border–Kollegal section of National Highway-212 in Karnataka. The highway project is for two/four laning with Paved Side Shoulders (PSS). The Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 4.5 crore for construction and repair of roads near the new campus of Lucknow University. The State PWD Minister Shivpal Yadav, who visited the campus of the University, directed the Nirman Nigam officials to start construction of the science building which has been lying incomplete for past three years.
Bihar highways to be upgraded at $300 mn ADB loan
To upgrade 254 kilometres of highways, which are in a very bad condition in northern and southern Bihar, the Union government has signed an agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for $300 million additional loan. The additional financing for the ongoing Bihar State Highways-II Project will widen the sections of existing four highways to two lanes, build and maintain bridges and repair the pavements.

There is a uniform policy for levying and collection of user toll for highways in the country, said Sarvey Sathyanarayana, the Minister of State of Road Transport and Highways in Lok Sabha recently. According to him, the Union government has notified the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates & Collection) Rules, 2008 on December 5 in 2008, as amended from time to time, for the projects taken up on or after 05.12.2008.

Haryana gets Rs 238.65 cr loan for roads, drinking water
In Haryana, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned a loan of Rs 238.65 crore for 21 road and 14 drinking water projects in Haryana, NABARD (Haryana), Chief General Manager, DV Deshpande said. The loan was approved under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) scheme, he added.
UP takes up eco-friendly roads to save natural resources
Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh is to get eco-friendly roads to save a lot of natural resources which usually goes waste during construction activities. With an aim to save such wastage, the State government is planning to build eco-friendly roads in the state. Unnao is the first district to get one such road in the next three months.
Naxal-hit West Bengal districts get Rs 822 cr for roads
The Union government has cleared Rs 822-crore for roads projects in three Maoist-affected districts of West Bengal. The sanction for 447 road projects for the districts of Paschim Mednipur, Bankura and Purulia comes soon after the Union government approved Rs 523-crore road projects for the state.
