In Gujarat, the pre-empowered committee of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) has cleared upgradation of the 2,834 km of roads at an estimated cost of Rs 1,064 crore. Union Minister of Rural Development Jairam Ramesh informed Chief Minister Narendra Modi about the Centre's decision in a letter. Ramesh said that a meeting of the pre-empowered committee was held recently and the same has recommended upgradation of 921 roads, covering 2,834 km in all across the state.

NHAI gives 6 months time to firm to complete Jaipur eway
Cautioning over the delay in completion of work on the 225-km-long Gurgaon-Jaipur stretch of National Highway-8, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has given the concessionaire firm, Pink City Expressway, about six monthsÂ’ time to complete the project. Tightening the noose on the concessionaire firm, the NHAI has fixed December 31, 2013 as the deadline for completing all the flyovers and service roads where acquisition of land is not an issue.
West Bengal calls bids for Rs 500 cr highway stretch
In West Bengal, financial bids from the short-listed infrastructure companies have been called by the West Bengal Highway Development Corporation (WBHDC) for four-laning of the Dankuni-Chandannagar section of State Highway-13. Infrastructure majors such as Gammon India, HCC, IVRCL and Nagarjuna Construction are in the fray to participate in the project, sources said.
Haryana govt okays Rs 9 cr for Yamunanagar road repairs
Haryana government has approved Rs. 9.37 crore to repair roads in Yamunanagar district that were damaged because of the recent rains. More than Rs. 1.87 crore will be spent on the construction of roads, cross-drainage structure and 60-metre side ramps on link road from Kaith Kalanour village to Lapra village, a release said.

Minister proposes 7 km flyover in Mandya to ease traffic
To ease traffic congestion in the heart of Mandya city, on Bangalore-Mysore main road, the Karnataka government has been requested to construct a seven-km flyover from the entry point of Mandya city up to the exit point, the State Housing Minister MH Ambareesh said on July 7. He said that the proposed flyover is likely to cost around Rs 317 crore. During peak hours, it takes not less than 45 minutes to cross Mandya on the main road.
