Absence of safety measures lead to killing of pillion rider
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on May 27 admitted that no safety measures were planned at the Indiranagar underpass of Nashik, where a 22-year-old was killed on May 25. Pankaj Shinde of Yashaswi apartment, Tornanagar, was killed when the motorcycle he was riding pillion was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle at the recently constructed Indiranagar underpass beneath the city's iconic 5.6-km flyover on the Mumbai-Agra highway during the wee hours of Saturday.

Work starts on flyover in Lucknow near ex-CM’s house
Work has started on a flyover at Mall Avenue, which had raised the hackles of BSP supremo Mayawati as it would pass near her residence and party office. The flyover, to be constructed by Uttar Pradesh Bridges Corporation at an estimated cost of Rs 40 crore, would be 15 m wide, 650 m long and would be completed in 15 months, official sources said. The State government had proposed to construct the flyover in its annual budget.
Railway overbridge ready at Payyannur in Kannur
In Kerala's Kannur region, the railway overbridge at Kotti, near Payyannur, has finally become a reality, and the State Chief Minister OommenChandy will open it for traffic shortly. Though the works of a major part of the bridge as well as the approach roads were completed in time, in March 2012, the commissioning of the bridge got delayed because of the delay in the work of the span over the railway lines, as they were waiting for the clearance from the Railway Safety Commission to get the work
J-K to seek Rs 582-cr from Centre for roads and buildings
For its roads and buildings sector, Jammu and Kashmir government would seek Rs 568.92 crore from the Centre towards completion of several ongoing projects. The decision to apply for central aid under the State Plan Assistance (SPA) scheme was taken at a high-level meeting in Srinagar on May 29. The meeting was chaired by the State Roads and Buildings Minister Abdul Majid Wani.
