For widening of an 80-km stretch of NH-210 in Tamil Nadu, Sadbhav Engineering on March 20 stated that it has bagged a Rs 382-crore order from NHAI. The company has been declared the successful bidder in respect of the bid invited by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the Ahmedabad-based firm said in a BSE filing.

Road Ministry seeks nod for Rs 500 cr small projects
In the fourth phase of the National Highway Development Programme (NHDP), the Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry has sought permission to clear projects costing up to Rs 500 crore in an attempt to expedite investments. At present, all road projects are cleared by inter-ministerial committees, which the Ministry says causes delay.
Mysore residents face inconvenience due to road work
Adichunchanagiri road in Kuvempunagar of Mysore is being widened. Mysore's urban development body, MUDA launched the works a year back. While a part of the road is widened and asphalted, some 70 per cent of the road that is widened is not asphalted though MUDA commissioner's official residence is located on the stretch.
J&K Minister stresses importance of road connectivity

Nod to Rs 7,915 cr road projects in UP, Maha, Gujarat, Haryana
The Union government on March 18 approved Rs 7,915 crore road projects in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Haryana under its flagship road building programme National Highways Development Project (NHDP). The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), in its meeting accorded approval to the four projects to be built under phases III, IV and V on Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis.

The Thiruvananthapuram Development Authority (TRIDA) has stated that major road works, including widening of important link roads will start this financial year itself. The Kerala government's budget has also cleared the proposals concerned in this regard. In addition to completing the renovation of 42 kilometres of city roads, widening works on another 60 kilometres will be undertaken this year, TRIDA Chairman PK Venugopal said.

Mumbai civic body to probe CAG’s claims in road projects
The Mumbai Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will conduct an internal inquiry into the increase in cost of road projects in the city, as pointed out by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. In its report, the CAG had also criticised the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for increasing spending an additional Rs 702 crore of taxpayersÂ’ money without following procedure.
Green tribunal stays Delhi road widening over tree felling
The National Green Tribunal has ordered an interim stay on PWD's road-widening project along the Andheria Mod-Mahipalpur stretch, where trees were found to be felled illegally. On March 18, a bench headed by NGT Chairman Justice Swatanter Kumar, asked the Delhi government, the Forest Department and PWD to not fell any tree except in cases where permission from the department concerned has been obtained till the next date of hearing.
Rs 20k cr worth stranded road projects to get nod
As the Union Environment Ministry is set to give its clearances to a clutch of stranded highway projects in one go, work could soon begin with a combined investments of over Rs 20,000 crore. The MinistryÂ’s blanket approval is enabled by its decision to de-link the environment and forest clearances (EC and FC) for road projects, as per a recent Supreme Court directive.
