The UT electricity department has proposed to increase the Fuel and Power Purchase Cost Adjustment (FPPCA) charges up to 10 per cent on the existing tariff, leading the Chandigarh residents to pay more for power for three months. After getting the approval from the Joint Electricity Regularity Commission (JERC), the rate will be imposed. Except for agriculture, the charges ranging from 10 paisa to Rs 1 per unit is levied on all the categories of consumers.
