The Airports Authority of India on August 6 stated that the new International Terminal at Chennai airport has been built at a cost of about Rs 2,000 crore. It added that the new terminal was scheduled to begin operations on August 7.
An official concerned said that international departure operations through the new International Terminal will commence in a phased manner with the departure of a flight bound for Singapore from August 7. Thereafter, all international flights of Indigo, Spice Jet, Jet Airways and Air Austral will also operate through the new international terminal, an official release said.
In the last two days AAI officials undertook a series of inspections and found the terminal ready for international flight operations.
