The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) announced that it would develop 273.69 sq km area around the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) region to address the issues of port related activities. CIDCO has established a separate team under Pradnya Saravade, IPS and CIDCO´s Vigilance Chief for the area named Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust Influence Area (JNPTIA).
The area identified as JNPTIA would be developed providing engineering and social infrastructure, traffic management with latest technology and growth of surrounding villages, CIDCO said. Out of the total 273.69 sq km area, 112.35 sq km falls in Navi Mumbai, 72.49 sq km in Uran taluka of Khopta and 89.12 sq km in NAINA. CIDCO revealed that it has appointed consultants and necessary traffic and other surveys in co-ordination with JNPT. Further, 330 hectares of logistic hub is also planned in Chirle-Belondkhar area close to JNPT and Dronagiri node. Over 30 villages and 53 settlements fall under JNPTIA.
