In a key milestone for India’s newest greenfield airport, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) formally took charge of aviation security at Noida International Airport (NIA) on Monday. The induction ceremony, held at the airport site in Jewar, marks the beginning of CISF’s deployment and operational readiness ahead of the airport’s scheduled opening in 2024.

The ceremony was attended by senior officials from Noida International Airport Ltd (NIAL), Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL), and CISF. The induction was led by Bijendra Singh, Deputy Inspector General, CISF, and Christoph Schnellmann, CEO, YIAPL.

CISF will now oversee all aviation security operations at NIA, including perimeter surveillance, access control, and passenger safety. The deployment aligns with national protocols for airport security and reinforces NIA’s commitment to delivering world-class safety standards from day one.

Speaking at the event, Christoph Schnellmann said, “The induction of CISF is a major step towards operational readiness. We are proud to collaborate with India’s premier security force to ensure that Noida International Airport meets the highest standards of aviation safety and passenger experience.”

The induction follows a series of preparatory steps, including the completion of key infrastructure, regulatory clearances, and coordination with the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). CISF personnel will be stationed across strategic locations within the airport premises to ensure seamless security coverage.

Noida International Airport is being developed by YIAPL, a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, in partnership with the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Once operational, it will serve as a second international gateway to the National Capital Region, easing pressure on Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and catalysing regional development across western Uttar Pradesh.
