According to a government report, India is the fourth largest consumer of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) in the world after USA, China and Japan and the consumption grows steadily at 8 percent per annum. It is the third largest consumer of LPG in domestic sector in the world after China and the USA. Domestic sector is the major market of LPG in the country.
The report also shows that industrial and commercial segments are potential markets for LPG. Demand for LPG in these two segments could rise because of conversions from conventional fuels to LPG, increasing awareness about LPG as cleaner fuel, and capital Investments in Industries for LPG installations. Following are some of the contract opportunities in LPG sector in the country.
Indian Oil Corporation plans to engage a contractor for handling, cartage, clearing and miscellaneous works at its LPG bottling plant in Allahabad. South Eastern Railway is in the process of hiring a contractor for supply of liquefied petroleum gas for industrial application proper in Kolkata.
Diesel Loco Modernisation Works is looking for a contractor who can supply LPG bulk ( in tank) at Patiala.
