The increasing capacity of steel production in the country coupled with ban on illegal mining in some of the states have caused shortage of iron ore in the country. In this backdrop, several companies are looking to hire contractors for activities related to mining and supply of iron ore.
For example, the Bellary unit of NMDC plans to engage a contractor for desilting of iron ore slime from tailing dam and transportation of the same to dumpyard.
Meanwhile, the Kolkata office of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) plans to engage a contractor for excavation and removal of iron ore fines. Also, Karnataka-based KIOCL is looking out for a contractor who can provide end to end logistics solution for transportation of iron ore fines at Bengaluru. In another opportunity, Odisha Mining Corporation wants to engage a contractor for supply of various grades of sized iron ore at Bhubaneshwar.
