In Varanasi, demolition drive to remove the demarcated portions of the buildings for four-laning work of Rathyatra-Bhullanpur road is likely to be started very soon. The administration has taken a decision to intensify the demolition drive to pave the way for the road widening.
The officials concerned revealed that the budget for the project has already been released to PWD. The department has already demarcated portions of buildings for demolition. As per the demarcation, portions of various buildings ranging up to 16-ft would be demolished on the way in the town.
The demolition exercise was earlier scheduled to be completed by September end. However, due to festival season, the administration delayed the demolition drive till Diwali end.
